King’s Challenge

One of the biggest events on the Borderline Speedway calendar, The King’s Challenge, evolved as a result of the club hosting the 1995 Australian Sprintcar Championship. The committee at the time recognized the need to have an ongoing major annual sprintcar event as a permanent fixture on the clubs calendar. Originally beginning as a two-night event, the King’s Sprintcar Challenge coincided with the running of the Grand Annual Sprintcar at Warrnambool, also a two-night event. With four nights racing on offer, the two clubs were able to entice the best of both national and international drivers to compete.

In 2000, as a result of intense pressure on drivers (four consecutive nights racing) and the all important speedway volunteer (with both nights being on work-days), the King’s Challenge format was altered to be contested as a one night only event.
Currently with $10,000 on offer for the winner of the event, the King’s Challenge is sure to attract a top line up of drivers from both Australia and overseas.
